Kristina Mladenovic was born on May 14, 1993, in Saint-Pol-sur-Mer, France, which is located on the north coast of France near Dunkirk. Kristina came upon her athleticism through her family, which is loaded with athletes.
Dragan Mladenovic, who is Kristina's dad, won a gold medal at the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympics in team handball for Yugoslavia. Kristina's mom, Dzenita, played volleyball professionally for a time. The Mladenovic family left Yugoslavia when Dragan was signed to play handball professionally by a team in Dunkirk.
Kristina Mladenovic started playing tennis at a young age, and in 2007, she became the under 14 singles champion in Europe. In 2009, Kristina won the French Open Girls Singles title.
Since then, Kristina Mladenovic has been playing on the WTA Tour. In the summer of 2013, Kristina Mladenovic teamed up with Canadian Daniel Nestor to win the mixed doubles title at Wimbledon.
At the 2014 Australian Open, Kristina team up again with Daniel Nestor in mixed doubles to win her second Grand Slam title. In singles play, Kristina's best showing so far in a Grand Slam event is the third round, which she reached at the 2013 U.S. Open.
